COLLISION REPAIR DEFINED

The goal of CIAG, the provincial trade association for Ontario' s collision repairers is to ensure the "victim" of an accident does not fall "victim" to an unsafe repair.

"Collision repair" means the repair of automobiles that have been damaged by collision, and includes the repair of automobiles that have been damaged by,

  • collision with another vehicle,
  • collision with the roadway or any object on the roadway
  • an act of theft or attempted theft resulting in damages to the vehicle
  • fire, or
  • vandalism

A collision repairer is an Ontario licensed auto body repair technician that has the training and skill to oversee proper and efficient repairs of automobiles that have sustained structural or body damage.

A collision repair facility is an auto body shop that employs licensed auto body repair technicians trained to perform structural repairs on damaged vehicles; maintains innovative training programs for employees; is equipped with industry standard equipment that guarantees repairs are performed as per manufacturer specifications; abides by all levels of government regulations as they pertain to the auto body collision repair industry and the operation of a small business within Ontario
